Fagan — Cross-breed

Fagan

🐕 Cross-breedAdult7 yearsMaleNational
Meet Fagan, a 7 year old male Cross-Breed who is medium to large in size and full of affection, once he feels safe. Fagan has done well with visitors in his current home but can show reactive behaviours toward unfamiliar males, such as workmen. However, he has also responded very well to male visitors he is comfortable with, accepting strokes and enjoying playtime with toys. Fagan has previously lived with children but showed some discomfort, including baring his teeth. He would therefore prefer a home with children aged 12+ or an adult-only household. Fagan is very good with other dogs and enjoys their company. He has previously lived with another dog and currently shares his foster home with multiple dogs, gaining confidence from their presence. On rare occasions, he has had minor disputes around furniture, likely due to a busy household and slow introductions not being followed. He can therefore live with medium to larger dogs, provided introductions are slow and sensible. Fagan has lived with cats for a short period and has always been gentle with them, showing no prey drive. He could live with cats following slow, sensible introductions. Fagan accepts a collar, harness, and lead. He is generally good on the lead, though he can pull and be strong. He has shown some reactive behaviours on walks and will need an owner who is confident and willing to continue his training. An active home with long walks or jogging would suit him well. He has good recall in the home, but when out on walks he can become distracted and overstimulated, so he should remain on the lead at all times. He is largely toilet trained but has had occasional night-time accidents; his foster is working with him on this, so support and patience will be needed. Fagan has never been destructive and can currently be left alone for up to three hours without issue. He sleeps downstairs overnight. He does not travel well in the car and prefers to be at the front if possible. Fagan’s foster describes him as very affectionate but still nervous. He will need a very patient and dedicated home to build trust and work on his anxieties. He is comfortable with females, but any males in the household should be confident and available for supervised introductions. Fagan has had a rough life and deserves a chance with a compassionate, experienced owner who can support him with love, patience, and consistency.
